Before the Move: How the Collaboratory and "Hands-On Room" looked before the new display

Before the establishment of the display cabinets, the entirety of the back wall of the Collaboratory consisted of tall bookshelves containing art history and cultural books.

The Hands-on room, formally known as the Seminar Room, is a collaborative area located in room 4306 where students and staff gathered for instructional meetings, graduate work, and projects. It was also where the Study Collection objects of the Archaeology and Art Department were originally secured. Overtime, however, the room became less frequented and concern arose over the potential risks associated with occasional leaks and unstable humidity of the hall where the room resides on the preservation of the artifacts.
